About the MultiChoice Bursary Programme – Fields Covered
MultiChoice invites high-achieving students to apply for their bursary programme for the 2025 academic year. Over 230 bursaries will be awarded to undergraduate and postgraduate (up to NQF level 9) students pursuing STEM-related degrees in these critical and scarce skill fields:
- Actuarial Science
- Accounting
- Data & Information Science
- Digital Media Technology
- Film & Television, Marketing, Filmmaking
- Finance
- Electrical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
- Information Engineering
- Information Technology (AI & Robotics)
- Sound Engineering
By funding these fields, MultiChoice supports the development of future innovators, creators, and technologists who will help shape Africa’s digital future.
What the MultiChoice Bursary South Africa Covers
The MultiChoice bursary programme covers one academic year of study, addressing key educational costs. Please note that the bursary does not cover any outstanding debt. Applicants must consider this when planning their financial needs for the academic year.
Eligibility Requirements
Before applying for MultiChoice bursary programme, ensure that you meet these criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Currently in Matric (2024) or have completed Matric.
- Studying or intending to study full-time towards a degree in one of the listed critical and scarce skill fields.
- Must be a first-time undergraduate or postgraduate (Honours or Masters) student.
- Achieved a minimum overall average of 75% in Matric.
- Achieved a minimum overall average of 65% if currently studying.
- Accepted or intending to register at a recognized South African institution of higher learning.

How to Apply for the MultiChoice Bursary
Applications must be submitted online at: MultiChoice Bursary Application 2025.
- You may save and resume your application anytime, but ensure you submit before the closing date.
- Previous MultiChoice bursary recipients must verify and update their information.
- When prompted, enter “www.onlinebursaries.co.za” as the referral source.
MultiChoice Bursary Programme Required Documents:
- ID document (certified copy)
- Matric certificate/statement of results (certified copy)
- Most recent results if currently studying (on official letterhead)
- Proof of acceptance or provisional acceptance from an accredited tertiary institution (on letterhead)
- Parents/guardians proof of income (recent payslips, affidavit if unemployed, grant or pension proof if applicable)
Ensure all documents are clear and complete. Missing or incorrect submissions may lead to disqualification.
Selection Criteria and Notes
Candidates will be selected based on academic performance and financial need, aligning with MultiChoice’s external bursary policy. If you do not receive feedback, please consider your application unsuccessful.
