About ADSA
The Association for Dietetics in South Africa (ADSA) is the professional organization representing Registered Dietitians across the nation. Founded in 1987 as a response to the needs of dietitians, ADSA is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to:

Since 2013, ADSA has been offering bursaries to disadvantaged students who might not have had the opportunity to study dietetics without financial assistance.

The bursary is available to students pursuing an undergraduate degree in Dietetics. If you’re entering your second year in 2025 and are dedicated to the field of nutrition and health, this opportunity is for you.

What the Bursary Covers
The ADSA Bursary South Africa 2025 provides partial financial support of up to R30,000 each year, covering:
- Registration Fees
- Textbooks
- Accommodation
- Other Educational Expenses
Additionally, bursary recipients receive free ADSA student membership for the duration of the bursary.
Note: Funding is paid directly to the university after receiving a statement with the student’s name and number. The bursary covers the remaining three years of study—from 2nd to 4th year.
Your Commitment to ADSA
As a bursary recipient, you are expected to:
- Work in South Africa after graduation for at least the duration of the bursary received (excluding the community service year).
- Be an Active ADSA Member at your local branch for the same period.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the ADSA Bursary South Africa 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Nationality: South African citizen.
- Academic Status: Currently in your 1st year of study (or have completed it) and entering your 2nd year in 2025.
- Field of Study: Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Dietetics.
- Financial Need: Demonstrate financial need.
- Passion for the Field: Show enthusiasm for food science and health issues.
- Leadership Skills: Have strong leadership abilities and participation in school activities.
How to Apply
Step 1: Complete the Online Application

Step 2: Prepare Supporting Documents
Attach certified copies of the following:
- ID Document
- Most Recent Academic Results (If end-of-year results are unavailable, submit your latest results, such as June results.)
- Motivational Letter explaining why you should be selected. (Need help? Read our tips on writing a motivational letter.)
- Proof of Parents’/Guardians’ Household Income (Latest payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, pension receipts, proof of grant, or death certificate if deceased.)
- Additional Supporting Documents (Reference letters, proof of employment, etc.)
Step 3: Submit Your Application
- Complete the online application and upload all required documents.
Ensure all documents are included to avoid disqualification.
